Ripple has renewed its partnership with NYU Abu Dhabi to support blockchain research and innovation, bringing its total investment in related projects and scholarships to over $1 million. This collaboration is part of Ripple’s broader effort to strengthen its presence in the UAE and promote the adoption of digital assets. By extending its University Blockchain Research Initiative (UBRI), Ripple aims to nurture talent and integrate blockchain technology into startups and established institutions in the region.
Ripple’s Managing Director for the Middle East and Africa, Reece Merrick, emphasized the importance of the UBRI program in advancing digital finance and supporting cutting-edge research. He also highlighted the company’s ongoing efforts, in collaboration with the Dubai International Financial Centre (DIFC) Innovation Hub, to integrate blockchain technology into the UAE’s financial landscape.
Lauren Weymouth, Director of University Partnerships at Ripple, revealed that in the past year, the company funded 313 scholarships and blockchain-related research projects, reinforcing Ripple’s commitment to the UAE’s ambition of becoming a global financial hub.
In addition to its initiatives in the UAE, Ripple has also extended financial support to other institutions, including a $1.05 million grant to Morgan State University’s National Fintech Center and $1 million to the Fintech Lab at the National University of Singapore (NUS) School of Computing.
