U.S. spot Bitcoin ETFs pulled in $844 million in net inflows for the week of August 3–7, while spot Ethereum ETFs added $244 million — the strongest weekly haul for ether funds since April, according to data compiled by CoinGape.
BlackRock‘s iShares Bitcoin Trust led the charge, logging four consecutive days of net inflows totaling $604 million and roughly 9,269 BTC, pushing its cumulative intake past $61 billion since launch. The sustained buying comes even as broader sentiment stays cautious, with the Fear & Greed Index sitting in “fear” territory despite improving weekly and monthly readings.
The inflows land as BTC trades in a tight range between $64,700 and $65,300, with small holders — wallets carrying between 0.1 and 1 BTC — offloading roughly 9,700 coins on August 9, a sign that not every cohort shares institutional conviction. Total crypto market open interest has meanwhile climbed 1.05% to $114 billion, pointing to fresh long positioning building beneath the surface.
On the ether side, the inflow pickup coincides with structural changes to staking-linked products: Grayscale’s amended Ethereum Staking ETF now targets monthly cash distributions from staking rewards, a shift that could make yield-bearing ETH exposure more attractive to income-focused allocators. Spot Ethereum ETFs have accumulated roughly $11.46 billion in net inflows since launch.
Traders are now looking to this week’s U.S. CPI print as the next catalyst. A softer inflation read could reinforce the case for a September Fed rate cut and extend the ETF-driven bid, while a hotter number risks reversing the recent range-bound calm.
